Oz beef exporters find Japan trade challenging 29 Jun 2009
For Australian beef exporters trading with Japan it has been a challenging week, according to Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA).
The week faced tight cattle supply and a strengthened A$. Also, Japanese buyers were not ready to secure products for the summer Obon holiday season, said the report.
There was a hike in prices for chilled export as livestock values strengthened, however, frozen prices weakened somewhat, because of soft demand across markets.
Wholesale market for imported beef in Japan, was still operating in a seasonally slow manner.
