Amcor retains place in Dow Jones Sustainability Indices 23 Sep 2009

Amcor has again been recognised as a global sustainability leader with their inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index.
Amcor has also been listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index, a new index launched this year. Launched in 1999, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) are the first global indices tracking the financial performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide.

To be included in Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), companies are subject to a thorough analysis of their economic, environmental and social performance. This includes areas such as corporate governance, risk management, branding, climate change mitigation, supply chain standards and labour practices. The indices also take into account industry-specific sustainability criteria, such as
climate strategy, product stewardship and customer relationship management.

“Amcor’s continued inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI) is a clear indication that our sustainability strategies are working,” said Ken MacKenzie, Amcor’s Managing Director and CEO, “We have made excellent progress towards our improvement targets for energy consumption, water use and waste reduction. Our holistic approach to sustainability is having a positive impact
in all areas of our business, not just the environmental aspects.”

Amcor is one of only three companies within the containers and packaging sector internationally selected for the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI) and the only packaging company in the Asia Pacific Index. Within the Containers and Packaging Sector, Amcor had the highest company scores in Environmental Reporting, Product Stewardship, Customer Relationship Management, Talent Attraction & Retention and Sustainable Fibre & Pulp.
