Food industry demand for 100% rPET 03 Feb 2010
Demand from the food industry for 100 per rPET led to packaging company applying for and receiving authorisation from Canadian authorities.

Phoenix Technologies has received a letter of no objection at a level up to 100 per cent for production of its food grade Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (rPET) resin.
Phoenix had previously been given approval in Canada for up to 50 per cent, however, after receiving vast interest from food companies for higher amounts they decided to submit additional data and apply for100 per cent rPET.
The increased development in sustainability within the food industry has been key in heightened interest for100 per cent rPET.
Phoenix previously received a similar “no objection” letter from the US Food and Drug Administration. It is currently seeking approval for the EU and said it expects the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) to deliver its verdict before the end of 2010.
