Australia: Cattle producers want abattoir constructed 05 May 2009

In Western Australia's Pilbara region, cattle producers want an abattoir to be constructed.
The producers have stated that the fast increasing numbers of cattle and goats in the area would support a two species facility.

Labour force
Furthermore, the cattle producers have said that there are sufficient people in the district for a labour force at the facility.

Increase beef exports
According to reports,Tim D'Arcy, from Lyndon Station, said that an abattoir could swell beef exports to the US market.

"We have a quota into the US, which is known as the grinder beef market, which Australia just never fills. That market would be very adequate and a very suitable market for the type of beef that would be killed in a northern abattoir," added D'Arcy.
