Australia: Millions received to build abattoir 01 Oct 2009
The federal government has agreed to give almost $2 million to a cattle station in order to construct an abattoir.
Elsey Station which based near Katherine, is owned by The Mangarrayi Aboriginal Corporation, plans to take on 15 people for the project.
Max Gorringe, who is the manager, has stated that the meat works will process up to 10 cattle weekly from stations that are situated close by. "This way will be a good opportunity for the pastoralists to get rid of a few cull cattle now and then,” states Gorringe.
