Korean cattle slaughter takes a dive in Oct 01 Dec 2009

Meat & Livestock Australia has reported that during the month of September, in total Korean cattle slaughter increased 74% on August this year and 69% on the same month last year in anticipation of increased beef demand for Chuseok.
In Korea, Chuseok is a three day harvest festival and holiday celebration which takes place in August.
 
Slaughter takes a dive
However, MLA further reports that following the Korean celebration, cattle slaughter dropped with 58% in October on the previous month, and 29% year-on-year, to 46,289 head (MIFAFF).
 
Domestic beef in demand
For the period ofJanuary to October 2009, Korean cattle slaughter went up by 9.4% (58,722 head) year-on-year.
