Long term sustainability for Aussie King Island abattoir 09 Sep 2009
The Minister for Economic Development, Michael Aird, said late last week that the Tasmanian Government is still working closely with JBS Swift and the Australian Government to ensure the long term sustainability of the abattoir on King Island.
“This is a complex issue and the Government wants to do all it can to keep workers in jobs,” Mr Aird said.
“The Tasmanian Government has therefore again rolled over the Deed while matters are finalised.
“Expected payments under the Deed to date are within the Government's budgeted amount of $500,000.”
Mr Aird said the Deed would be rolled over for another month.
